personalized usb extension
This is just a home made USB cable that some of the parts came from junk. Im using a usb extension that i improvised but it was gone, maybe stolen by fratboy thieves that were trying to be the good guys so i decided to make a new one. not just new but a better one.
these are the materials that i used
- plastic case (project case)
- usb female port
- usb male port with wire ( it came from a broken webcam)
- glue sticks, soldering iron, soldering lead, and other tools

the picture shows a small project box. It is a 1" x 2.5" x 4" project box.
FIRST STEP.
TRACE A HOLE FOR THE LED LIGHT ON THE PROJECT BOX. PUT IT IN ANY LOCATION YOU WANT (just trace it under the picture that you are applying) BUT THIS TIME, I PUT IT ON THE CENTER (nearly) OF THE PROJECT BOX. AND ALSO I USED A LED MOUNTS
FIRST STEP.
TRACE A HOLE FOR THE LED LIGHT ON THE PROJECT BOX. PUT IT IN ANY LOCATION YOU WANT (just trace it under the picture that you are applying) BUT THIS TIME, I PUT IT ON THE CENTER (nearly) OF THE PROJECT BOX. AND ALSO I USED A LED MOUNTS
SECOND STEP
LOCATE, TRACE THE RECTANGULAR HOLE DIMENSION, AND PUT A RECTANGULAR HOLE FOR THE USB PORT TO BE MOUNTED. ON THIS BUILD, I PUT IT NEAR THE END OF THE PROJECT BOX BUT AT THE CENTER OF BOTH SIDES. YOU CAN USE YOUR CUTTER TO CUT (BUT TAKES TIME)

ATTACH THE USB PORT ON THE HOLE. AND THE DIMENSION OF THE EXTENDED PART OUTSIDE THE BOX WILL DEPEND ON YOU. BUT THIS BUILD USES 10mm EXTENDED PART FROM THE FACE OF THE PROJECT BOX UP TO THE END OF THE PORT. INSERT YOUR LED LIGHT ON THE LED HOLE
ATTACH THE USB PORT ON THE HOLE. AND THE DIMENSION OF THE EXTENDED PART OUTSIDE THE BOX WILL DEPEND ON YOU. BUT THIS BUILD USES 10mm EXTENDED PART FROM THE FACE OF THE PROJECT BOX UP TO THE END OF THE PORT. INSERT YOUR LED LIGHT ON THE LED HOLE

FROM THE IMAGES 1. YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE +5V AND GROUND (WHICH IS -). A RESISTOR 1/4 WATT AND OHM VALUE WILL VARY HERE
R = (VS - VL) / I
R= resistor value
Vs=voltage supply
Vl= voltage to be supplied
I = ampere of the part you must supply.
WILL BE WIRE WITH THE LED'S CATHODE UP TO THE +5V OF THE USB EXTENSION (COMMONLY COLOR CODED AS RED) AND THE ANODE IS WIRED TO THE GROUND OR "-" (COLOR CODED AS BLACK). THE 2 WIRES REMAINING WILL BE THE DATA WIRE. JUST USE A MULTIMETER TO LOCATE THE +DATA AND -DATA
I ALSO USED A CAPACITOR TO CORRECT THE VOLTAGE WAVE BECAUSE OF THE LONG WIRE. YOU CAN USE A TORROID INSTEAD.
